DeliSoil Consortium Strengthens Collaboration for Healthy Soils at Annual Meeting in Vic

The DeliSoil consortium gathered in Vic, Spain, from 11-13 May 2026 for its 4th General Assembly Meeting, hosted by BETA Technological Centre. The three-day meeting brought together partners from across Europe to review project achievements, exchange knowledge and define future actions supporting sustainable soil health and nutrient management solutions. The meeting combined presentations, governance discussions, field visits and interactive workshops designed to strengthen collaboration across the consortium.

Sharing progress and project developments

The first day focused on project coordination and updates from the different work packages. Following opening remarks from project coordinator Ansa Palojärvi and representatives from BETA Technological Centre, work package leaders presented highlights from ongoing activities, early findings and future priorities.

The sessions provided valuable insight into methodological developments, scientific progress and upcoming tasks linked to DeliSoil’s work on circular bioeconomy approaches and sustainable nutrient management practices.

Alongside the formal programme, poster sessions and networking opportunities encouraged collaboration between partners and promoted knowledge exchange across disciplines and Living Lab regions.

The day concluded with a guided visit through the historic centre of Vic, offering participants an opportunity to explore the town and learn about the rich local history.

Seeing research in action

The second day focused on field demonstrations and regional activities within the Catalan Living Lab. Consortium partners visited the Selecció Deseuras biogas plant, experimental field sites in Manlleu and the facilities of the BETA Technological Centre.

These visits showcased practical examples of nutrient recovery, circular bioeconomy solutions and field-based innovation linked to the DeliSoil project. Participants had the opportunity to see implementation, learn about regional challenges and observe stakeholder involvement directly within operational environments.

In the afternoon, industry representatives from the Catalan Living Lab shared presentations on their role within the project and their experiences collaborating with DeliSoil activities. Updates from the consortium’s five Living Lab regions also highlighted ongoing work, future demonstrations and regional priorities.

Interactive co-creative discussions and round table sessions encouraged partners to exchange ideas on the future development of the Living Labs and collaborative pathways for supporting soil health innovation across Europe.

Exploring impact, innovation and future priorities

The final day centred on reflection, impact and strategic planning for the next stages of the project. During a plenary session, consortium partners reviewed progress achieved throughout the current reporting period and reflected on DeliSoil’s development so far.

Participants then took part in a World Café-style workshop exploring four thematic areas:

  • Policy briefs
  • Circular bioeconomy business models
  • Key Exploitable Results (KERs)
  • Fairness and inclusivity within project activities

The workshop format encouraged dynamic discussions and cross-disciplinary collaboration, enabling partners to explore how project results can contribute to long-term impact, stakeholder uptake and policy development.

The meeting concluded with presentations summarising the workshop discussions, reflections on lessons learned from the field visits and collaborative sessions, and discussions on priorities for the coming year. Alongside the wider consortium meeting activities, the official General Assembly addressed important governance and coordination matters.

Key outcomes from the meeting

The 4th DeliSoil General Assembly Meeting represented an important milestone for the project, strengthening collaboration across the consortium while advancing discussions on scientific progress, Living Lab implementation and future impact pathways.

Key outcomes from the meeting included:

  • Sharing project updates, methodologies and future plans across work packages
