The DeliSoil project was proud to be featured in Mondo Macchina/Machinery World’s article covering Agrilevante 2025, one of Europe’s leading exhibitions dedicated to sustainable agricultural innovation, held in Bari, Italy. This year’s edition focused on the circular economy as a crucial response to the challenges of climate change, soil degradation, and resource scarcity. For DeliSoil, the event was an opportunity to demonstrate how circular solutions can regenerate both ecosystems and rural economies.

ITABIA (the Italian Biomass Association) led several initiatives during the exhibition, including the Bioenergy Area, where visitors could experience live demonstrations of cutting-edge machinery for processing agricultural and forestry biomass. These technologies showcased how waste can be converted into renewable energy and materials, bringing circular economy principles to life.

One of the event’s highlights was a visit to Bel Agri’s biomethane plant in Foggia, which transforms olive mill residues, poultry waste and secondary crops into advanced biomethane. The facility, which generates its own energy through anaerobic digestion, is a powerful example of closed-loop efficiency. This approach aligns perfectly with DeliSoil’s vision for sustainable soil and resource management across Europe.

DeliSoil also featured in a workshop organised by ITABIA alongside the RuralBioUp, BioCoDe and Icarus projects. Together, the projects presented innovative strategies for valorising agricultural by-products to enhance soil fertility, promote carbon farming and contribute to the goals of the EU Emission Trading System. Special attention was given to biochar, a key material that improves soil quality while permanently storing carbon in the ground.

The initiative, organised in collaboration with ENEA, CINSA and the STAR* Facility Centre (DAFNE – University of Foggia), brought together researchers, businesses and students from across Apulia to exchange knowledge and build partnerships for sustainable regional development.

Agrilevante also featured a series of short films from EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects, including contributions from DeliSoil partners, showcasing real-world examples of circular bioeconomy in action.

DeliSoil’s presence in Bari reaffirmed its commitment to advancing soil health, circular resource use and climate-smart innovation, proving that collaboration between science, technology and local communities is key to building a more resilient and regenerative agricultural future.
