Recap of the DeliSoil and NutriBudget Co-creation Workshop
On 22 October 2024, Yara International hosted an inspiring Co-creation Workshop, bringing together key insights from two Horizon Europe-funded projects: DeliSoil and NutriBudget. The online event attracted more than 50 stakeholders from across Europe, including representatives from farmer associations, the food and beverage industry, academia, and financial organisations.
Workshop Goals
The workshop aimed to address critical challenges in sustainable agriculture, focusing on:
Nutrient Budget Optimisation: NutriBudget aims to minimise agriculture’s environmental footprint, reducing impacts on climate, biodiversity, water, air, and soil.
Circular Soil Improvements: DeliSoil seeks to recycle byproducts from food processing into sustainable soil improvers and fertilisers, promoting healthier soils and a circular economy.
Speakers at the event included Pamela Cardillo: Project Manager at ERINN Innovation, who highlighted DeliSoil’s outreach initiatives, Professor Erik Meers: A bioresource recovery expert from Ghent University, who provided insights into nutrient recycling technologies, and Marina Ettl: Director of Funded Projects at Yara International, who expertly facilitated the discussions and managed the workshop’s organisation.
Participants were invited to share their experiences on relevant topics through interactive live polling, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving impactful solutions. The workshop reinforced the value of tailored solutions that address real-world agricultural needs.
The workshop’s insights will guide the continued development of regional living labs under the DeliSoil framework, where innovative practices will be trialled in diverse agricultural contexts. These efforts align with the EU’s Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe,” which aims to ensure healthy soils across the continent by 2030.
